If the GT3 versions present the fine-tuned sports cars for Porsche customers who are looking for precision driving instruments, the GT3 RS is the model for those who always want more and who are looking to set records; not enjoy the scenery while driving. Introduced along with the “standard” GT3 in 2015, the GT3 RS (RS is German for Renn Sport) is a further refined model aimed at racing drivers.

The GT3 is always a naturally-aspirated model, and in the case of 991.1 and 991.2 generations of Porsche 911, it is powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine with an insane 9,000 rpm redline. Initially, power output was 493 hp, but with the introduction of the 991.2 model in 2018, Porsche engineers managed to squeeze an additional 20 hp from the engine. The performance is basically unchanged, and regardless of the model year, the GT3 RS can sprint to 60 in 3.4 seconds and achieve 197 mph top speed.
But how is the GT3 RS different from the standard GT3 in terms of driving dynamics and feel? Well, first of all, it is a PDK-only model with a specially tuned transmission, designed to shift as fast as possible. It even comes with a “paddle-neutral” feature, which allows you to rev the engine freely, disengaging the gears for a short period of time, which is something that regular automatic transmissions cannot do. Second, it features lightweight materials and the manic quest for eliminating every unnecessary weight from the car. Third, it has a roll-cage, race-spec safety features, and a specific aerodynamic package with fender vents and a big wing in the back.
